And he didn't even go off on a totally inappropriate tangent ... when he said "Your C-5 time is still PIC even though there is no type rating" that might indicate to you that the "type rating" is not a specific limitation of the Atlas minimums for military pilots.
Take some time to read through this thread (the single most significant source of help and information on getting hired at Atlas, anywhere) and you'll find many C-5 (and other military) pilots who have been hired; none of whom are "type rated" in the FA-18's, F-15's, C-17's, or C-5's that they flew in their previous life. Mil pilots seem to thrive here and Atlas seems to like to hire them.
