So we have 1250 a year total mil-trained guys coming into the applicant pool. Observe that ALL of them (except Army WO's) are college degree and many with masters degree, and most are well versed in board/panel type interviews and presentations/etc.
Plus ??? thousands of regional pilots who since Day-1 at their regional, their goal was "major airline pilot", and barring training contracts, they can quit their regional employers and walk over to Major Airline ABC the next day.
Besides AA, who is actively looking to hire boatloads ? Hmmm, that is what I thought. Just remember we have a pending pilot shortage coming soon....
Theres a lot of "hiring" going on if you ask your favorite major's training dept:
AA - hiring a lot off the street, and half (roughly) Eagle flows per class
UAL- Hiring/Recall total of 450 or so this year, with 200 in the pool (new hire hiring revised way down because recalls are coming back in greater numbers than previously expected).
DAL - 50 a month, with many of those being flows. Current poolies waiting 6+ months.
Theyre all training guys like crazy, its just that off the street hiring is still low because of flows and recalls. Military guys can theoretically supply this model for a LONG LONG LONG time, unless flow thrus get shut off.
