The PWA allows for a certain number of sell-offs each quarter. However, when pilots are on furlough, the company is required to re-call a small percentage of furloughees when it exceeds the specified number of selloffs.
Lately, the company has sold off a lot of flights apparently triggering this 6-pilot recall.
While sell-offs are a necessary part of the fractional business plan, NetJets is starting to use them to keep the wheels from falling off the wagon. The company supposedly reports all sell-offs, but who really knows besides management?
