A-74. No. During a rest period, regardless of length, a flightcrew
member must be free from all restraint. If a flightcrew
member is required to do something by the certificate
holder, he/she is not free from all restraint.
The last-day schedule check is dead. And yes, it is rest.
Good luck with that and let me know how it goes for you. I would however call DALPA and tell them your interpretation of the rule. A day off contractually is not required rest under FAR 117. If you are required to check your schedule contractually then any rest is broken and you now require 10 hours off. The company is complying with that.
It's also exactly the same as any other long call assignment under 117. If you are required to answer the phone then your rest is broken and you must have 10 hours off before you report. In this case your required to make a schedule check. You then must have 10 hours free of duty. They can't require to do anything during that period or you require another 10 rest. Go back about 4 pages in the thread and read the reply from contract admin. Regarding this.
