In almost all hourly wage jobs, union members have better pay , benefits & working conditions than non-union workers.
Boeing just eliminated their Defined Benefit plan, for non-union workers, because they could, even with record profits, and huge back-orders of jets, the non-union workers had nothing to blunt this and zero recourse to amend it.
All excellent points but of course Boeing essentially eliminated some union positions, defined benefit and all, by moving some production to SC.
Unions are nice. They work really well when the unionized are highly skilled and not easily replaced by anyone off the street or moving production out of state, or in the UAWs case out of country. I would never dream of calling the VW workers in Kentucky fools.
Remember Norma Rae? She is working at Walmart. Not to worry though, her agitator boyfriend has a nice gig as a party hack.
