The only thing I would like to add, is be prepared to be disrespected many times a day. By TSA, by gate agents, by the FA's, by the company and even your own union on occasion. As a regional pilot you are a second class citizen. In the United system some new hire ramper's great aunt has more priority in back than you do as a regional pilot who is trying to get to work to do the job. This is why commuting sucks so hard.
Finally, as a new hire reserve FO, you will get to fly with all the introverts, rejects, asocial, and other problem captains, because line holders will avoid them or dump them like the Enron stock. Don't let it get you down--it isn't you, it IS them.
