Look, this has gone downhill fast but there had better be an overwhelming reason for rejecting once you are airborne. Boeing did a study a while ago about aborts for tire failures and they found that the subsequent overrun was a lot more damaging than taking it airborne and coming back around with a damaged tire. There is a huge degradation in stopping power with a blown or deflated tire.

Touching down nose wheel first is pretty strong evidence that they were forcing it back on the runway, just like the SWA @LGA incident. Hopefully they will have a good explanation for the FAA and NTSB.
