The Torpedo was just a tiny bit hoppier, and it is 7.2%, vs. the Rebel IPA, which poured a shade lighter, was very good, smooth, and 6.5%. If I can't find Torpedo, I'll buy the Rebel. But if they are both on the shelf, at the same price, I'll get the Torpedo.
Sweetwater 420 is my favorite IPA although it is not marketed as such. Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA is probably the best Double/Imperial IPA but be careful with that stuff. 9 percent beer is best enjoyed from a snifter, or after one you forget the third verse to whatever song you are playing. But they are very hoppy without the bitterness that many overly hopped (like Hophead) beers exhibit.
I have enjoyed IPA's since they first came on the scene. But now I am on a craft brew Larger kick. It is all about the balance. Does that mean I'm getting old?
