Word is we will be using L11 in ORD starting March 20th using the air stairs. The city finally approved it. There was some liability issues we had to work around. They will need 5 gate agents for this gate alone for deplaning and boarding. If someone needs a wheelchair, they will be sent to L1 down the elevator then transported onto a van to the airplane. I can't wait to see the fiasco. We are going to share also another gate - a common gate - and supposedly we will have an additional gate in October.
So I'm counting 4 1/2 gates in ORD come October, is that correct? (Our current 2, plus the hard stand, plus the one you say were getting in Oct, plus the shared gate ( hence the 1/2)). If that's correct, it sounds like a very "Spirited" set up but much better than trying to cram 20 arrivals and 20 departures on to 2 gates and using the 32R pad as contingent overflow. Then again, I'm sure if we do get these gates, Spirit will try to expand to put 50 arrivals and 50 departures into them.
