As a guy who has been here at Delta 25+ years, let me tell you guys if at all possible, don't defer. My DOS from the AF was Aug 31 and my class date was Sep 12. I was called about halfway thru Aug to see if I could make the Sep 2 class. I had movers scheduled etc the first week of Sep so I said if it ment keeping the job I'd be there but I'd like to keep my original class date. Delta said that's fine so that's what I did. Those 30 numbers haunted me for at least 15 years! I missed getting into the PDX M-11 base for at least the 2 years before it closed by less than those 30 numbers.

Now I understand there can be family or other issues that can take precedence. I'm just saying weigh your options very carefully.
