I can't say for certain without reading your manual, but I would guess that step in the POH procedure is in place because it assumes that the need to revert to an alternate static source could potentially arise because the main is frozen over and heating the aircraft might help defrost the port or any residual ice. I don't think it has to do with pressure. Someone can correct me if my logic here is wrong.
