I suppose it might make sense if it is the difference between flying or parking the airplanes is the reality. When you furlough a pilot, you layoff the cheapest labor, not the most expensive labor.
I don't work in a training department so I can't answer it either. But if I were to guess once you factor in hotel, ground school, per diem, simulator cost, etc. I would say it's got to be AT LEAST 10K to keep a pilot current and that's not even considering initial training which is tens of thousands. You're assuming I am against it when I haven't said one way or the other. I could care less how many hours someone else works my point is it doesn't make sense from the company's perspective.
