The three youngest guys in my Delta new hire class were ages 24, 26, 26.5 and they also had the most total time, between 3,500-5,500 hrs, and 90% of it was spent operating in and out of the busiest airports in the world, ORD, ATL, JFK, LGA, etc. in the worst weather.
The fighter guys in my class had about 1,200 TT, most of it day VFR in an empty pattern.
How landing a single engine jet on a boat qualifies you to fly passengers in/out of O'Hare in a blizzard is beyond me.
