Maybe once we successfully flew an OPD in profile mode. Most of the time, if it's my leg (and typically it is as an FO going into Memphis), I fly V/S, and this works well. I would say fifty percent of the captains don't like this, and would rather put their faith in the computer and "see" what happens. What usually happens is that we come close to missing the first speed restriction, and I come out of profile. And yes, we had inputted the 132 cost index. Still no bueno.
The company will never invest money in an upgrade. It's up to us to fly the airplane and make it happen.
There are only two entities in this world that I trust, one is me, and the other isn't profile.
