I'd be interested in hearing where one should go then... Chasing the upgrade typically doesn't work, as evidenced by recent events at Silver and Lakes. I live in a base I enjoy, get treated pretty well, and have a better QOL than I ever did in 135 and even my former corporate pilot gig.
Looking through your post history here, you come off very whiny. Just curious where you worked prior to SkyWest? Some of the *****iest guys I've come across are ones that had limited professional aviation experience before coming here. The absolute worst ones are those that have never worked outside aviation!
Not whiny. Just telling the truth to newbies who think they're signing up for something great. It's not.
I actually enjoy my job, and awarded decent flying if I bid multi day trips.
I'm not telling anyone to chase an upgrade. Chasing upgrade is where one leaves a regional with a lateral move somewhere else for upgrade. Since you're newer here, maybe you don't know, but many did chase the upgrade to OO and it worked out for them.
If a pilot is just starting out their career, I think they should go somewhere else. That's all I'm saying. They'll enjoy a faster seniority progression and find themselves with a competitive résumé in a shorter timeframe than being employed at SkyWest.
As for where I was before OO, I had 3 other flying jobs and a few jobs while in high school and college. SkyWest wasn't the best employer for me, nor the worst.
