Jumpseat in attire you'd expect on UA. Business casual or uniform is required at HAL. We may be in Hawaii and would prefer slippers and shorts to the pilot uniform, but we're still professionals and expect the same when others are using the jumpseat privilege.
While JSing on HAL (PHX-HNL) in uniform I was
told to please dress more casually next time. The quote was "You don't have to travel in uniform, this is Hawaiian."
Regardless, I always travel in uniform, however I was shocked by the encounter. It was all very light-hearted, but I felt that there was a real air of seriousness.
