Yeah, he should probably at least get a 709 ride or hang up his ticket until he can re-evaulate things. Nobody should panic like this and be in the cockpit.

The thing is I think that idiotic videos like the "170 seconds to live" crap scares the VFR pilot rather than educating him. That video is irresponsible in my opinion, and after seeing it pilots who get into this situation may simply panic, thinking their fate is sealed, instead of remaining calm and making a 180 or doing a letdown to VFR altitudes. Every VFR pilot is already supposed to have 3h of instrument time and a healthy respect for IMC.
