Precisely. Kind of busy to be on here much anymore, but when I breeze through on a down day--something usually strikes a mini-chord with me. Usually it is pilots taking their eye, or trying to take the groups eyes off the ball with misinformation--as you have seen through.

USAir is an easy target due to the controversy of their SLI with AWA--where courts have actually ruled in the East's favor--bringing the discussion around to ethics. If we are going to delve into ethics, we should certainly evaluate practices at other airlines involving such things as outsourcing, scabbing, trip parking, sick calls, overtime flying while furloughs exist. By all means, questionable ethical practices vary in the eye of the beholder. One persons' questionable ethical practices are another's use of "all available means' within the bounds of law.

Being a bit closer to that situation gives guys the easy ping to think there is bias on my part, when in reality pretty much all of their information is incorrect--including NERDs. No question bias exists on my part, but it is more for the East pilots with whom I have done ALPA work; good union members, and good people who deserve more than they have--and have been doing this much longer than me as well as the people throwing barbs at them from a position of relative stupidity. These same people will change their viewpoint on longevity quite dramatically should the vicious rumor of a merger with a certain Pacific based airline come to fruition. Mine will stay the same, and recent arbitration activity has evolved to give some weight to longevity as well.

As for the "USAir ruined America West" argument, well, that was just laughable. You are correct in that it is a management thing (with DP from America West doing the initiating of the merger), and not a pilot thing, although you would think every pilot in the world grew up wanting to fly for America West when you hear them on here. I sure wish they, and other groups such as SWA, would have done something to improve this profession other than providing the "work more for less" mentality--but thats another discussion…as is arguably the second or third best contract in the industry at USAir back in 2001 when planes started flying into buildings. My opinion, biased as it may seem :roll eyes:, is that these types of airlines are primary catalyst in the erosion of Legacy contracts to there existence today.

Anyway the bias argument is merely a cop out for lack of meaningful discussion and admission that they were incorrect in their initial post. Pretty disappointing from an eagle guy, but whatever. Your point is correct, and more on topic than mine
