MatchPoint you're absolutely correct. They only argument I could possibly think of for taking AA is if you wanted to protect yourself if bases were going to be fenced for new hires, which they probably won't due to vacancies everywhere coming up. For example, if I had AA and US at the same time, I'd take US, because I live 20 min from PHL, and the thought of flying 3 days a month a320 reserve is absolutely amazing. If I lived in Miami, I might choose AA instead. It's all hypothetical, but logic suggests you're making the right choice. If it turns out it was the wrong choice, nobody would Monday-morning quarterback it.
