I don't l know if you were EXCON or UAL but at UAL consolidation lines have been around for years. Just as pilotgolfer explained. They would also give new captains a consolidation line if they had less than 75 hours as a captain with UAL and were going to be on reserve. That way they don't time out before consolidation. I got one when I upgraded on the 320 in 2008. Mine was a full month of LAX MSY turns with one trip of nothing but four LAX LAS turns a day for three days in a row.

So the good deal there was a senior guy, like somebody who could hold one day turns to MSY could volunteer their monthly line for consolidation and get paid for it and either pick up extra or stay at home.

Obviously this needs to be reinstated simply to keep IDIOT's like the EWR chief pilot from threatening our new hires. It is the companies job to get these guys consolidated. And especially with the way our new crew desk operates in a continual fog of incompetence and half witted patch jobs. there is way our new guys should have to deal with them to try and get consolidated on their own through APU. As the crew desk guy said to flight medic, it's not their problem either.

Listen I am NOT getting into them and us here. Things were worked out and were operating pretty smoothly at both airlines pre invasion. But somehow when they merged they took the worst practices of both and mixed them into one huge cluster of non working, non nonsensical mush and instead of fixing the simple stuff they are sticking to their guns. The thing that is SO frustrating is that when something isn't working AND there is such a simple solution like reinstating consolidations lines it doesn't get done. It should take one phone call. "Hey Howard our guys are turning into pumpkins and dropping dead before consolidation we need to reinstate consolidation lines to protect our new guys." DONE that's all it should take. Instead we have to read threatening letters from idiots like the EWR CPO about how our poor new hires are somehow responsible for this BS. WRONG IDIOT CP BOY it's YOUR problem so you need to FIX IT!
