Well said. There are plenty of areas where pilots can get improved pay and QOL and it still benefits the company (i.e. they still make record profits). I think the main problem is that a lot of people think by negotiating for better pay, benefits, and QOL, that they are hurting the company. This is not necessarily true, and it certainly is not true now. Economic research suggests that labor costs less of a percentage of operations costs than you might think. I am certain that ALPA sends you guys this data, I cant speak for DAL but at my airline its around well under 10%. We could get fedex pay rates tomorrow, and that number would still be under 10%, making all the pilots financially stable, and the company would still make tons of money. So I definitely do not buy that argument that people make when they say a pay raise will harm the company. Remember that contracts exist to protect and enhance the profession that we all worked so hard to build. I really do think the Flying the Line should be mandatory reading for every new hire, you shouldn't be allowed off probation without it
