There are a lot of guys picking up open time now. Mainly those that live in SDF and bid reserve. I have seen over 60 guys, senior capts, and even a 1st year guy. The first year guy said that he was bored sitting at home on reserve and picked up a trip in order to gain experience. UPS most have loved that!

Do a search on UPS furloughs on Flight Info and you can see what was going on. The furlough letters went out but it never happened. I guess they were retiring a lot of 727s around that time, which meant excess bodies due to the FEs.
