According to one of our posters, who has been very right about the Eagle/AA situation, AA has a long-term plan to work with a number of organizations to train pilots from 0-ATP..they work for AA...start at Envoy, and when they get the experience they need move to AA.
I think it will work similar to the MPL that is worldwide, but the US MPL will end in an ATP instead of just a Comm/Multi/Inst rating. Worldwide, many pilots are selected and trained by an airline...and they owe the airline "X" number of years of flying in return...just like the US military.
I can see what you are saying, but I'm still waiting for this whole "pilot shortage" to manifest itself. Once that happens, then I'll eat crow....
