What your work ethic is and attitude toward the job is. I do believe there are pilots who never get called in to interview for no reason at all, but I think that there is definitely a fraction I don't know how large or small of regional pilots who either don't try hard enough or do the wrong things trying to get interview / or while being interviewed who get stuck at the regionals.

Every single job in the world is tough when you start out and takes a while to get money. Those young 20 and 30 something year olds who are making close to and above 6 figures are just as much of a fraction as the guys the same age getting hired at a major. They don't get randomly selected, they work hard and network well. Bad attitudes do not usually coordinate with hard work and persistent drives that may get a pilot where he wants to be. Think about lawyers who spend way more than pilots trying to get those 6 figure jobs and only small fractions of them make that kind of money, or they must pay their dues for years the one difference is more lawyers got into law for money unlike pilots who got into aviation because they love it.

Like I said I believe that for some they just are unlucky but for a good amount I think it's there own fault. If you hate it and are miserable change careers, there are a ton of career changers into aviation, why not change out?

There are a ton of entry level jobs that pay way above regional FO pay? I honestly think that the people who would rather complain don't want to change because changing is hard and that's not what they want, which is probably why they will never get hired by a legacy. Thanks for all the advice, I am going to be a pilot and unless you have something constructive to say, and not just "this job sucks, stay away" don't waste my time or any pilots who are optimistic.
There are a ton of really good guys in the regionals right now who can't get an email from any career carrier. No checkride busts, college degree, etc. etc. It's more random than you might imagine, and most people are totally different in person than they are on the internet, myself included.
