They want you to drive your own car. If you push they will get you a rental car. Tolls are not paid unless they are in an absolute bind and need you to get there several hours ago. You are required to gas up the rental car. The AAY rental car policy forbids you from getting the prepaid gas option.

If you drive to another base and then fly, it is considered duty but only because 117 says it is. Driving back is not duty unless you were going to fly another leg. You're on your own.

Hotel? Hahaha...good luck! Unless you are at the end of legal duty day when you arrive back in the base you drove to, you aren't getting a hotel in most cases. It happens all the time. West coast reserves cover all bases out west, East coast reserves cover all bases out East theoretically. Sometimes you will even cover the other coast.

This is just one small part of the problem at AAY. Of course, the pilots there are "just complaining". It's funny to see that the people who were gung ho about getting hired just a few months ago are already on here making tongue in cheek complaints. That should tell you a lot!
