Two former furloughees from my Dec/99 class were awarded NYC88A on the last bid. I think they were the first guys to move to the left seat out of the 1310 who were furloughed after 9/11. With the size of this next bid I hope there will be many more.
The future is looking pretty bright at Delta..barring another FM event (like war breaking out over Ukraine). My advice would be to live below your means and bid a category where a lot of new-hires will be moving in below you. That will reduce the chance of being displaced and going to training if something bad happens. The ER is an awesome opportunity..but if the crap hits the fan, expect to get displaced down and get to train on the 73N, 88, 717 depending on how bad things get. The 88 and the 717 will at least act as a shock absorber if guys have to displace down above you...cause you never know what can happen.
Like many have said, Delta is a great company with great guys/gals to fly with. Good luck and Welcome Aboard to all those headed for VA Ave.!
