Pretty much nailed it. Not bad for an FNG.

A few nuances to add...REG pilots can borrow up to 5 hours to meet the trigger to make their GS worth double time - the math ALWAYS works to do this, even if you have to go negative in your bank.
RSV's only get pay above guarantee if they fly on X days or if they accept a short notice (less than 12 hours) GS on their first day on call, which is next to impossible now with 117 requiring 10 hours of rest before a trip.
Btw, love your Flying articles. We're of a similar demographic/vintage so I can relate to nearly everything you write about, at least timeline-wise. Although I don't think I could've made it through a UND winter preflighting in -30 windchills!
