One option could be the Bombardier C-Series and Delta has looked at the geared turbofan (GTF) engine in particular.
The C Series is supposed to be very, unreasonably expensive. I don't see them being able to discount it to where it needs to be for us to pull the trigger on another fleet type…especially a -100 A model media car lithium ion paper mache Guinea pig like that. The 737-700 could be on order tomorrow if BA wasn't so arrogant. That or the 319 would make way more sense. I wouldn't touch the C Series vaporware jet until its been flying for several other airlines for years. Good fuel numbers (supposedly, IF it comes in on spec), comically high price and extremely questionable reliability from a company that still can't even get its own Dash-8 Q400 right. I just don't see DL jumping into that unless they almost give them to us to build street cred.
