Yes they have, but they've never faced this kind of market pressure, in terms of supply of regional pilots. Add that to the equation, along with the ability to add as many seats as they want to the RJ and fly it anywhere with no restrictions, and the numbers start looking a whole lot better.

Regardless if you want to bring this flying to the mainline you don't merge those airlines. You sunset the contracts and transfer the aircraft. Much simpler and cheaper.
