6000 hours PIC
5000 hours Turbine PIC
6000 hours Part 121
Never failed a checkride
Three or Less driving tickets/violations
Applied over 5 years ago
Graduated magna cum laude GPA 3.9
1 internal letter of recommendation
Bachelors degree accomplished in 4 or less years, no breaks
Am I missing anything? Would you agree that this is what they are looking for? Has anyone gotten an interview with anything other than this? I know that military is a whole different animal and has an entirely different criteria. I am just curious who has been getting the invite. I have a lot of friends that got the fix it email but then have heard nothing. Guess they currently have 8000 applications right now too. Just curious of the 8000 how many actually meet this criteria?
Your friend is on the lowed end of the range, especially GPA. DL usually has a strict "4.0 or GTFO" policy. Also a sigle traffic citation at any time, even parking, is usually a no go. But if he aces the interview he has a chance I suppose. I knew someone who got on with a 3.9 GPA but it was in engineering from a really tough school and he was putting himself through mopping floors Good Will Hunting style. He still had to dance his way out of that one in the interview though. They actually don't hire that many astronauts though, because believe it or not they are considered somewhat untrainable know it alls by that point. So its a very fine line, which is why they only find a few pilots a year that meet their stringent requirements.
For real though, DL isn't really that much harder than anywhere else to get a chance with. They
only just now started hiring what is going to be many, many thousands of pilots after essentially not hiring for more than one 2 year blip and another 3 month blip out of the last 13 years. That's a pretty big bottle neck and its going to take several months to clear out, but we're seeing it already.
Many, many thousands of applicants will be interviewed and hired with no where near the numbers you posted. It just started, and most of the "hiring" this early on has been flows and furlough recalls and the extremely well connected who have been stuck in the bottle neck. Its about to open up big time.
