Thanks for the input guys. What about OAK? I know its expensive in the Bay Area, but I like road biking and running, and the moderate temps there would be advantageous to that year round. Plus it's a 3 or 4 hour drive to Tahoe for some good skiing.
You were wrong about LAS but spot on about OAK.
California is insanely expensive.....10% state income tax and EVERYTHING is priced sky high. Not even all that fun either. I lived there and know.
LAS is a great bet! (no pun intended) For all but 3 months out of the year the weather is awesome. Great places to ride, run, and hike. Even during the summer months you can get a ride/run in if you will do it late or early in the day. EVERYTHING you can imagine wanting is available. The Strip is somewhere where people go to work or visit occasionally if you live in Las Vegas. The city has its own vibe and is a great place to live. I would recommend looking at Summerlin/Henderson areas. Especially if you like getting outdoors...those two places have great access.
Oh...did I mention no state income tax?
You should give LAS a second look.....and look away from the Strip.
