What you are missing is IAH being your end goal. It will be next to impossible to get IAH on the 756 for a long long time. You will guarantee your double leg commute for the duration of the 2 year seat lock until you can bid down. If you bid the 73, you double leg commute it for a few months then you'll be awarded IAH and reduce your commute. You can then bid the 756/76T at any time if you change your mind since in this case the seat lock does not apply. I know guys that have been here under a year on the 73 that have already gotten to IAH.
