In our manuals it paraphrases to be truthful to the PAX with regards to delay. But I think gloopy is right, they want to see your attitude when answering this type of question. I would have probably told the Captain, "yes sir". It is not a safety issue to make a white lie PA and I wouldnt want to start a 4-5 day trip challenging the Captain on the first day. On the other hand, you could tell the Captain that you have to use the lav immediately and for him/her to make PA.

I respectfully disagree, 10. Honesty trumps Captains Authority, especially if it's in the FOM. Delta would rather pay for a few hotel rooms than get caught in a "white lie"..especially in an interview. Just like the "Captain wants to take a bottle of wine left over in the galley" question. I think they ask the question several times just to see if you change your answer under pressure. Remember,, the only 2 things that DL will fire you for is lying, stealing and willful disregard...JMHO for those reading this thread who may have an interview coming up.
But I do agree attitude is everything, especially when answering the confrontational questions.
