As you described it, I don't think it would be a problem. The scenario in my mind where it would be a problem is where a new employee who is a military retiree/separating member, who said they'd be available on such and such day takes a class date, but is not on terminal leave. Even that would be OK if both sides know what you're doing. But if this member was trying to game the system by knocking out indoc and training and then pull the "I need to go on mil leave status for the next XXX days to finish my time." Well, that IMO would be a big problem. Maybe people do it, but if they do and it's approved I think it's not right.
