Here's a possible scenario for domestic augmentation:
A route that is not flown daily. Maybe only weekly.
Where there are no pilots laying over to bring the plane back.
Instead of having the jet sit for 12 hours while the pilots sleep, they augment the crew and fly a turn.
How many domestic routes do we fly weekly? In my very first post I stated the company may want them for some turns to Central America/NRT. They would however have to be on one of the 17 757ER's.
They are not going to be doing transcon turns.
