Thanks... That crash video is what got me thinking about it.

Seems to make sense that a runway is just a hop skip and jump away from and EZ. Only thing that comes to mind is exposure to incoming fire. But then again I guess most of our "modern" enemies aren't usually sophisticated enough to seriously threaten an airfield.
