Bingo.
The flying has been co-mingled now for almost 4 years. There are LCAL pilots flying out of previous UAL bases (all of them) and LUAL people flying out of GUM and IAH. We both had NYC bases prior to the merger.
Also, United has taken on 26 guppies to replace 757s, so I don't understand how people get so defensive when LUAL pilots bid those aircraft. Its not our fault they are doing flying out of EWR, etc. We had a base there before and these are airplanes that we would have got anyway to replace the 757s.
Its all UAL pilots flying now. All 12,600+ of us. We bid it based on our seniority, except for sparky and the whale for 19 more months then that opens up to everyone.
So no one "owns" the flying. Its all community property now.
I don't hear IAD based pilots complaining that pilots who were flying the 757 or 777 out of EWR are now coming in and pushing them down the BES list, because that is happening as well. They are just not getting super defensive about it.
The seniority system is what it is, and the contract is what it is. If we can't agree on that, the rest is not really even worth discussing.
The only real thing I've heard that they are upset with is that their sweet deal where they got 100% of the new flying of an airline that is now more than twice as big as them all to themselves, and now they have to share it.
