No offense to your captain, but it sounds to me like he didn't exactly assert his position as the captain.
Of course as pilots, we need to understand that it's a two way street. I've seen a lot of flight crews treat their FA's like crap. I learned early on that it's best to have a good working relationship with the cabin, and to set/establish expectations and standards from the start of the trip.
I never had an issue with a FA, but I also made sure that they were throughly briefed and knew that they had the flight crews full support. As such, 99% of them always took care of us FIRST.
