Curious, Job guy - What are you telling a potential new hire upgrade time for THEM will be if they hired on today? What can they expect?

Okay, I think you know what I am getting at: I have heard rumors of PSA and another airline with shiny new airplanes, <cough> MESA <cough>, telling applicants to expect an 18 month upgrade. While that may stand true for the "luckiest", have you not already passed the "sweet spot"? What are you at. 700 pilots now? Up from 500 originally? If you are getting 30 airplanes, at a rate of 13 pilots per plane (Being "117 generous here), you need 200 or so more right? So you need 200 more to hit the magic 900 number. Half are Captains pretty much, or the 1st 450 or so on the list. Your pilots have been all over this board saying attrition is extremely low at PSA. You get 4 pilots per month hired at USAir, or 48 pilots per year. Let's double that and say attrition is a nice round 100 pilots per year. So if I get hired today, mr piloto number 701!, I am going to be around 2 years from upgrade. You say you are running 40-50 through per month. So at that rate you will be all staffed up in 4 months! Hell if I waited a month a was piloto 801, I would be looking at a little over 3 years.

By the time you hire your last guy gets hired in September, who I am guessing did not do well in 5th grade math, mr piloto 900 will have to wait 4.5 years. That is not a horrible upgrade time, as long as the music keeps playing. So far history has proven it does not take much to stop it. Then you are stuck at an airline with a payscale and contract that your pilots on here like to say "Hey we are better than MESA!". That should be your new slogan! HEY! WE PAY BETTER THAN MESA!
