However, the question is whether the CTP will be a prerequisite for the check ride after 31 July, assuming the written was passed prior to that date. The regs seem to say no, but interpretations from people who claim to know differ.

As a corollary question, what if one has a single engine ATP prior to 31 July and wants to upgrade a Comm Multi to ATP after 31 July? CTP required given the fact that the written was already passed?

It's amazing to me that with only 2 months to go, that there's so much confusion, even among FAA people!
