The chances of the 777 Capt's retiring are about the same as them not picking up all that open time as extra flying or flying it at draft or volunteer. I know they are working on their high five because they have not had the chance the last 20 years as WB capt's. There is more open time for them after VTO's assigned then there were for the ANC capt's before our VTO's got built. ANC open time now, only two DP pairings.
I don't disagree at all, but I've never seen that much open time after the secondaries were built. I'm not expecting mass retirements, but I'd like to see them inquire about it. The company will see this for sure.
I fully expect their open time to be devoured quickly, but one can hope. There is no way they could cover that flying with reserves. The lanyards won't get us a contract, but idle 777s will....
