Default scheduling question

What are the limits of the rules that a short call pilot, or a long call pilot must be released at 1200 on their last on call day prior to a hard non fly day? More specifically can they assign you a trip that reports at 1300 as long as it gets you back by 2359? Or, since you are technically a long call pilot at 1159 on that last day, they can't give you that 1 day trip and must release you at 1200? If you're not sure of the answer, who should I ask?
