It can work well with ONE parent who is crew (pilot or FA). With enough seniority, the crew parent can have a lot of quality time at home with the kids on days off.

The challenge is career timing...when the kids are little is usually when you need to be jumping through career hoops but that's also the best time for a parent to be home a lot. By the time they hit their teens, they won't want to hang out with you so much...you can still be their chauffeur though

With two crew parents, it's pretty rough. I've seen it but never seen it work well with kids. Reason being, you have to bid opposite schedules so somebody is always home...so you have two people doing tag-team single-parenting. May get the job done, but not really good for the marriage itself. Why even as we speak, another friend's marriage (to an FA) is falling apart...three little kids.

With no kids, two crew can have a great time...work hard and bid two weeks off every month or two and travel the world.

Another option might be get the kids started early on, and one partner works GA or local 135 jobs to stay home. The other partner progresses to a major. As soon as the kids can drive then the stay-home parent can jump to the airlines, and by the time they're out of the house hopefully have enough seniority for good QOL. The junior partner will probably have to work weekends at that point but the senior person can match the junior schedule. That's some hard-core planning though...you'd have to flip a coin to see who's going to stay home
