Additional comments from that same lawyer involving our last contract and flying extra..........
Allegedly, during Fred's weekly meetings he is briefed on all kinds of data and one of the metrics is service failures. We historically have a pretty steady and low rate of service failures but during our last contract negotiations when guys stop flying the extra stuff (make up, draft, vacation buy backs) the SF line spiked up. This got Fred's attention and the quote that was passed to me was;
"They finally figured it out, get the contract done before peak"
Disclaimer: I am certainly not claiming to have firsthand knowledge of any of this but that's what was passed to me so I figured it was worth passing on, something interesting anyway and I'm pretty sure this some real truth to it
