First, actually be hired by Delta. That's one in a thousand.
Second, be open to flying anything, anywhere. If you're not, you'll be miserable.
Third, IMHO, it sounds like you are waffling on the airlines. If you aren't prepared for commutes and reserve, you're looking at the wrong career.
Don't mean to be harsh but helpful. DAL might not be right for you if you're not willing to go all in.
You are absolutely right!....Well...50/50.... I am an "ALL IN" kind of person, so that's why I am trying to really get this right...well at least get it right for what I want! Anyway, its not wrong to try and NOT have a crappy commute, or to seek the most job satisfaction for you and your family. Blind devotion to a job/company works for some, but if you aren't trying to better your circumstances, you might as well be a robot, IMHO. I expect it to be tough wrt commutes and reserve, what I'm trying to figure out is how to make that time the shortest possible!
