Delta used to be a stickler in regards to shoes. Slip ons were not allowed and they had a whole list of restrictions. Technically any shoe with a design in the toe is not allowed. After the merger I think anything that is black goes. I just flew with a guy who wore black tennis shoes.....not kidding.
Spring some extra dough and get some slip on Ecco shoes. Airport friendly, very comfortable, nice looking, and I'm going on 8 years with my last pair.
Just bought a pair of Allen Edmonds. Hurt badly during the one week break in period but now feel like slippers. They are made in the USA and can last 20 years if cared for. They cost $250-$350 a pair but are money well spent. And that's not expensive for a Delta pilot.
