Has anyone considered the potential impact of the new requirement for additional training just to take the ATP knowledge exam? I have heard that it could cost up to $20,000 so that the requirements for that may be legally fulfilled. Thus far none of the regionals AFAIK have plans to pay for that training. How does an entry-level airline wannabe CFI pay for such a steep price in training for such a low-paying job? I will likely be one of those pilots; it makes me question whether I want to continue on this profession if I will be mandated to pay $20k.... First year regional pay is bad enough.
