Few reasons..

The "T" (LUAL 757 and 767-300) is a dying airplane so although life will be good to start eventually you will be merged with the 756 fleet. The most junior 756 FO is currently a Sept 2013 hire EWR. The company is planning to merge the two fleets in 2015 with FAA approval.

After you start class you are seatlocked for 24 months. The exception is if you bid UP in equipment (Example: 737 to 76T or 756) you can do that whenever. Then another 24 month seat freeze so you couldn't go to the 320 or 737 for 24 months.

Most believe the 737 is better as you will have access to all the bases eventually and it is growing so more options.

Personally if you are ok with EWR and are going to commute I think the 76T would be a blast to fly and 2 yrs is going to go by so fast and with projected retirements it is anyone's guess what staffing will look like next summer let alone 24 months from now.

Most of the 76T flying in EWR is to LHR, GVA, and ZRH. The other flying it covers is L-UAL 757 JFK-LAX/SFO flying which is less commutable and mainly 2 day trips.

I live in a UAL base but commute to EWR on the 737 so hoping I will eventually get home.
