SOCOM/JSOC entities are a scalpel not a hammer. They were never intended, or trained to carry out long term, high optempo, continuous operations. Each entity has a specialty. Think of the spec ops community as a very expensive tool box, of very very specialized, very expensive tools. You can't just stamp them out like you can say pilots.

To repel an invading force (say ISIS in Baghdad), you need a sledge hammer. Mechanized Army brigade or even a Marine MEU. You roll in, stomp their guts out, kill everyone, then leave. We won't do that though...
