This is way off base. An 18 year pilot has acquired much more experience, knowledge and skill than a new hire. This is the basis for continuing pay raises. I learn more each year that adds value to my skill set. You pay me more for my new knowledge.
We all know we will never be paid anything close to what we are worth, my huge beef is the pay disparity between seats. I get what he is saying and do agree but both are equally responsible for the safe completion of the flight. There is no reason for greater than a 30% difference and even that is on the high side. First year AT LEAST has to be a living wage!
